Mammoth sunflowers are show stoppers in the garden. Towering around twelve to fifteen feet tall, these massive flowers demand attention from all visitors. These are easy and fun to grow for kids, 4-H groups, and family and county fair competitions. After the flower blooms, large seed heads form and can be saved for seed or leave for the birds. These are a gold finch favorite in my garden.
For the largest flower heads, seeds must be planted one-inch deep, and at least two feet apart. Does best in full sun. Plant after last frost when ground has warmed.
