This bright orange flower attracts butterflies and hummingbirds all summer. Growing at six to eight feet tall and one foot wide, this flower works best in the back of the garden bed. I also plant a row in my vegetable garden to attract beneficial insects to help with pest control. Plant the seed in warm soil about a half-inch deep and cover and then pull up a chair and watch the show. Continual clipping (dead-heading) of spent flowers will prolong blooming or let flowers go to seed and save for next year.
